What is the Difference Between Retargeting and Remarketing?

Retargeting and remarketing are both forms of online advertising that aim to reach users who have previously interacted with a website. However, there is a subtle difference between the two terms.

What is the difference between retargeting and remarketing?

Remarketing: Refers to the practice of showing ads to users who have previously visited a website. This is typically done by using cookies to track users' browsing behavior and then displaying ads to them as they visit other sites on the internet. Remarketing services basically help businesses reconnect with visitors who may have left a website without converting.

Retargeting: Is a more specific term that refers to the practice of showing ads to users who have previously visited a website and abandoned their shopping cart or left without completing a specific action. Retargeting is used to remind users of the items they left behind and encourage them to return and complete the purchase.
